Lead Developer / Senior LAMP Engineer

Astrum Solar (www.astrumsolar.com) is a funded startup company whose goal is to spread solar power to rooftops across the US, starting with the Mid-Atlantic area and targeting residential customers. We aim to innovate in the sales and marketing of solar to consumers and make it easy and exciting for homeowners to go solar. We intend to make the online customer experience and our back-end systems into a main differentiating factor between us and the rest of the solar industry, and we are looking for someone who can blaze that path.

The company is early stage so, for the right person, there is enormous growth potential and opportunity. This position is unique in that we are looking for someone senior and experienced enough to establish a framework and lead a team of developers as the company grows, but not so senior that they are not interested in rolling up their sleeves and coding by themselves for the first year or so. The appropriate candidate will be comfortable and experienced with PHP, MySQL, server management, workflow management, transaction management, and customer support management software.

Requirements:

* At least 4 years of PHP development experience with a database back-end (MySQL preferred), as well as a thorough understanding of HTML creation in a non-WYSIWYG text editor.
* Comfort with writing complex SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data sets to leverage in PHP.
* Experience with Unix environments (Linux) and Unix tools (RCS, etc).
* Experience in writing Javascript and asynchronous Javascript.
* Bachelors degree required, masters-level education preferred.
* Experience with entrepreneurial environments is a positive.
