About.com is looking for a junior to mid-level LAMP Developer to add to its CalorieCount.com development team. CalorieCount.com is a free online diet program which allows users to search, analyze, and log all aspects of their weight loss, including foods, activities, and recipes. The site also includes social networking features such as profiles, personal journals, and very active forums. The ideal candidate will be familiar with web based technologies and an active problem solver who is able to identify and fill in missing product details and requirements. Responsibilities include:
- Work with other team members to define and implement needed new products and features
- Proactively improve and enhance the CalorieCount.com site and services
- Verify and fix bugs or problems as they occur
- Assist with database and application architecting
- Create technical documentation for new services
- Help ensure continued reliable up-time of CalorieCount.com services
Based upon skills of the candidate, this role could also involve work on complementary projects such as mobile development, Flash application development or Facebook application development.
The candidate should possess:
Required:
- PHP 5 and LAMP fluency: 3+ years
- Web Standards, CSS, HTML/XHTML: 3+ years
- AJAX, Web Services, JavaScript, XML: 2+ years
- Experience scaling and optimizing LAMP for high-traffic websites
- Strong analytical and business skills
